Finding ways to keep your kids entertained during school holidays can be a dreaded task for any parent, no matter how organized you might be. But with so much to do and see, we’ve made it easy to get the kids out of the house this September break.

Let your kids' creative side take hold at the Paint Your World art class in Mornington. They will be encouraged to choose something that inspires them, something they love, to be the subject of their pieces. With guidance, your kids will leave about different techniques, colour selection and mixing, composition and brush care. On top of that they’ll get the chance to make new friends and have plenty of fun. Paint Your World offers a safe space where all of the kids are supported to be free and creatively express themselves. They will learn a variety of skills beyond painting, including decision-making, self-belief, valuable social skills and more.

Red Hill Candle Co, Candle Making Classes

The iconic Red Hill Candle Co are coming to the rescue this school holiday. Get your kids' creativity flowing with this one hour candle making workshop. Your kids will create fun memories and make new friends while they learn all about the process of candle creation from start to finish. Exploring over twenty different scents the kids will get to choose what appeals to them the most and at the end of the day get to take home two of their own hand-made candles.

Tinkerbell and The Dream Fairies at the Briars

If your kids have a flair for the mystical, magical and musical then this is one you don’t want to miss. Head down to the Briars in Mount Martha to see Tinkerbell and her friends Mustardseed, Moth, Cobweb and Peaseblossom take to the stage for a magical adventure full of song and dance. Produced by the Australian Shakespeare Company, this show is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Everyone is encouraged to go dressed in their best costume, whether that's a fairy, a firefighter, a superhero, an animal, a wizard. This family-friendly show has something for everyone but will be most captivating for the younger kids.

Enchanted Adventure, Home of Tree Surfing

Get the kids out of the house for a day for a day of fun. Nestled at the top of Arthurs Seat is Enchanted Adventure, a wonderland of activity for kids and adults-alike. For those with kids that have energy to burn, let them loose on epic Tube Slides, the Canopy Walk, or one of the Tree Surfing courses. If your kids prefer to be a bit more menatlally stimulated, then the brainteaser puzzles and magical mazes will keep them occupied for hours. Since their opening in 1997, Adventure Garden has grown into a hideaway full of mazes, beautiful gardens, adrenaline-pumping activities and peaceful picnic areas. Grab the kids and spend the day getting lost in the abundance of fun to be had.

Boneo Discovery Park

Experience a day out like no other. Nestled among 27 acres of native flora and fauna you will find Boneo Discovery Park. The activities on offer are staggering, with a vintage carousel, hedge mazes, a mini train ride and much more. For the adventure seeking guests, the Bungee Tramps and Rock Climbing Wall are truly enticing. If you’re looking for a more relaxing day with the kids, you’ll love the mini-golfing and the more traditional games on offer like Giant Chess, Checkers, Hookey, Jenga and Connect Four. As of this year, the park is also home to Sand Sculpting Australia. You’ll be able to view all the existing sculptures of the exhibition and visit the kids zone to let them run wild in the sand pits with the diggers creating their own sandy masterpieces. When you get tired from all the exploring and playing, lay out your picnic mat or grab a spot in the lakeside cafe for a bite to eat. With so much to do, you’ll want to designate an entire day for this one.
